Greg Armstrong
 

Woodwind artist Greg Armstrong is comfortable in virtually any performance situation. He has appeared with the internationally acclaimed Sonora Quartet, with the Tucson and Albuquerque Symphony Orchestras, and in numerous theatre, radio, television, and film productions. Greg earned his Bachelors degree in Jazz Studies and Masters degrees in Saxophone Performance from the University of Arizona where he studied with Elizabeth Zinn Ervin, Kelland Thomas, and jazz professor Jeffrey Haskell. Greg's teaching credits include positions at the University of New Mexico and the University of Arizona. Greg is a valued adjudicator at festivals and competitions, and provides workshops and clinics throughout the Southwest.  He is currently active in a variety of musical groups, including the Special Edition Jazz Orchestra, the San Diego Concert Jazz Band, The Ira Liss Big Band Jazz Machine, the San Diego Winds Concert Wind Ensemble, The Apex Trio Chamber Ensemble, and continues to perform in Arizona through Nederlander Productions and the Arizona Theater Company.

Mary Alice Hendricks
 

Cellist Mary Alice Hendricks is an active musician in the San Diego County area. She has performed with Classics4Kids Philharmonic for the past 12 years and has been musician contractor for the organization for the past 7 years. Other credits include performances with the San Diego Symphony, Orchestra Nova, Monterey County Symphony, Santa Cruz County Symphony, Bremerton Symphony, Kitsap Opera and Ballet, Portland Chamber Orchestra, and the Portland Civic Theatre. She was also a member of the Iris Quartet in Seattle and the Deimos Quartet in Portland, with whom she toured around the West Coast. Her teachers included Gabor Rejto and Peter Rejto (Claremont CA), Georg Von Bulow (Heidelberg, Germany), Hamilton Cheifetz, India Zerbe, and Sister Ann Miriam (Portland OR). She has appeared as soloist with Portland Chamber Orchestra and has performed on-stage with Smokey Robinson, Donna Summer, and Clay Aiken.

 

As a teacher, Mary Alice has achieved success in her private studio with students who compete and win – most recently first place in the 2018 North County MTAC senior strings category. She has coached cello ensembles at Rancho Bernardo and Mt. Carmel high schools and at several local orchestra festivals. She also coaches chamber music ensembles and teaches music theory at Solosoli summer chamber music camp.

 

Mary Alice's academic credits include a Bachelor of Arts degree in German Literature from Scripps College, and a Master's degree in Public Administration from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Currently, she lives in Escondido and, together with her husband, owns and operates Open Source Maker Labs, a research and prototyping makerspace in Vista, California.
